San Antonio archaeological site
To showcase the San Antonio archaeological site in Cáceres, I designed information panels featuring QR codes that link to a video narrated by Claudia Tercia, an animated character representing an ancient Roman woman who lived in the area 1,500 years ago. In a light-hearted manner, she explains the different historical vicissitudes of the site and its inhabitants from Roman times to the present day. This is an educational way of explaining the origin of the San Antonio archaeological site, which was discovered during the construction of a photovoltaic plant in Cedillo (Cáceres), promoted by Iberdrola
Design, illustration, and assistance with copywriting
The panels explain the significance of the various archaeological elements found and visible to visitors, showcasing their historical and heritage value in an educational manner

My Role

Video accessible via the QR code on the panels
Objetive
The site was converted into an open-air museum to protect its heritage value and contextualise it within the development of a modern project, such as a photovoltaic plant.
This ensures the site’s preservation for future generations by preventing deterioration and plundering
Keys
The challenge was to transform the technical content provided by the archaeology team into engaging texts full of interesting facts, to capture visitors’ imagination and give them an idea of what the structures would have looked like in their heyday. This is why the panels include drawings intended to be artistic reconstructions with a scientific basis.
Additionally, thanks to the video narrated by Claudia Tercia, visitors can experience what life was like for the inhabitants during the Roman Empire
A trailer to encourage visitors
A shorter version of the main video was also created for Cedillo Town Council to use on social media and in other communications to attract visitors
Claudia Tercia was depicted under the supervision of the site’s team of archaeologists and project directors to ensure that her clothing, hairstyle, and accessories were consistent with those of a Roman woman of the period
Heritage law
Conservation and enhancement of heritage
The images show the site surrounded by solar panels, but clearly distinguishable from them
Animation with Character Animator
Using Character Animator for animation involves creating a fully rigged character with different positions for features such as the eyes, lips and arms. You can then control these features using your own movements, as if the character were a puppet. The programme can instantly synchronise lip movements and gestures, making the animation process much easier. In other words, Claudia Tercia mimics my movements and even my voice, since I also narrated the script
